Authentic and Chemical-Free Products from Humpy A2

Humpy is a startup founded by Vishal Chaudhuri, Malavika Gaekwad, and Jaywant Patil from Pune. Humpy A2 is an authentic and chemical-free marketplace that collaborates with farmers for organic farming and purchases their products at the right price to offer them to customers. The brand name A2 refers to a type of protein found in milk, which is more nutritious than the A1 protein present in regular cow's milk. Humpy offers A2 milk, A2 paneer, cheese, classic dahi, and two types of ghee- classical and vedic, which are made through traditional methods and churning, respectively. Humpy has its own application where customers can register and order these organic products. Quality check results and certificates are delivered to more than 4000 customers to ensure transparency and authenticity.

AIM OF THE STARTUP

The aim of Humpy is to provide a marketplace for native, authentic, and chemical-free products that are produced through organic farming. The co-founders, Vishal Chaudhuri, Malavika Gaekwad, and Jaywant Patil, are based in Pune and have tied up with farmers to source products at the right price and reach out to customers.

The brand name "A2" refers to a type of protein found in milk that is more nutritious than the A1 protein commonly found in regular cow's milk. Humpy's A2 milk is tested with 120 different quality checks, and all other products are organic as well. The company provides quality check results and certificates to over 4000 customers to reinforce their authenticity.

Customers can order these products through Humpy's own application, which offers a range of items such as A2 milk, A2 paneer, cheese, classic dahi, and two variants of ghee. The first is a traditional classical ghee, and the other is vedic ghee, which is made by churning. Overall, Humpy aims to provide high-quality, chemical-free, and authentic products to customers, while also supporting farmers and organic farming practices.

TARGET MARKET

The target market for Humpy appears to be health-conscious consumers who are interested in consuming natural, chemical-free products that are sourced from organic farms. The focus on A2 protein milk suggests that the startup is targeting individuals who are looking for high-quality dairy products that are more nutritious than standard cow's milk.

The fact that Humpy emphasizes the partnership with farmers and the quality checks that are conducted on their products could also appeal to consumers who are concerned about the environmental impact of food production and the welfare of farmers. By providing transparency about their sourcing and production processes, Humpy could build trust with their customers and differentiate themselves from other food startups that may not prioritize these factors.

Humpy's target market seems to be consumers who are willing to pay a premium for high-quality, natural food products and are interested in supporting sustainable agriculture practices.

SALES AND REVENUE

Humpy's quality check results and certificates are delivered to more than 4000 customers to ensure transparency and authenticity. The company has its own application where customers can register and order these organic products. The company's valuation is cr 18.75 crore rupees, and it has a retention rate of around 93%.

Humpy's traditional ghee is priced at Rs. 2000/kg, while its Vedic ghee is priced at Rs. 3200/kg. The company's net margin is 44%, with a net profit of 1%. Of the total revenue, 80% comes from dairy products, and the rest 20% is from non-dairy products.

Humpy's sales have been consistently increasing over the years. In FY17-18, the company's sales were Rs.65 lakhs rupees, which increased to Rs.198 lakhs rupees in FY 18-19. In FY 19-20, the sales further increased to Rs.202 lakhs rupees, and in FY 20-21, it was Rs.250 lakhs rupees. In the first six months of FY 21-22, the company's sales reached around Rs.208 lakhs rupees, and it is projected to reach Rs.400 lakhs rupees by the end of the year.

THE SHARK TANK EXPERIENCE OF THE STARTUP

The startup Humpy had a successful funding experience on Shark Tanks India, securing a deal with three of the sharks - Vineeta Singh, Peyush and Ghazal. The pitchers of Humpy initially asked for 75 lakhs rupees in exchange for 4% equity in the company. However, the counter offers made by the sharks differed significantly.

Namita and Anupam stepped out of the deal, leaving Vineeta, Peyush and Ghazal to present their offers. Vineeta proposed 50 lakhs rupees in exchange for 10% equity in the company, as well as 25 lakhs rupees debt with a 12% interest rate. Ghazal and Peyush jointly counter offered 75 lakhs rupees for 10% equity in the company.

However, the three sharks later joined forces and presented a joint offer of 1 crore rupees in exchange for 15% equity in the company. The pitchers of Humpy had the opportunity to accept either offer, and ultimately decided to go with the joint offer made by Vineeta, Peyush and Ghazal.

The final offer represented a significant increase from the initial ask, as the sharks saw potential in the Humpy startup. With the funding secured, Humpy can now continue to grow and develop their business, thanks to the support and expertise of their new partners.
